Charles and his son Alex were most gracious hosts for our one night stay at Cottonwood Ranch. He was unfazed by our 11 pm arrival, 2 hours later than planned. The accommodations were indeed charming, with an expansive 360 degree view of the valley and the mountains beyond. We fell asleep looking out the window at the Milky Way, to the neighing of horses. The next day, we were welcomed into the world of a working ranch, watching Alex halter train a horse, learning the history of this family property, and observing the horses in the paddock, complete with a sheep who had joined the horses in the range, and had decided that he was a horse. Charles and Alex showed us the way down to the Bear River, at the edge of the pasture, where we took a lovely kayak paddle, watching hawks soar overhead; a doe and fawns watched us from one side on our way down he river, and cattle lowed at us from the other side on our way back. They also directed us to a particularly nice local hike. We felt very much welcomed and taken care of. It was a wonderful experience for two fifty-somethings with our adult children; younger families would also very much enjoy it.
The cabin sits on a historic, Wyoming ranch. The cabin is a total of ~1400 sq. feet with an open family/dining room on the main floor and large living room upstairs. The kitchen has a full size refrigerator and stove. The bathroom has sink, toilet and shower.
We provide a wide range of services from ‘do-it yourself’ guest ranch to full service (meals, horse guide, fly fishing guide). We can create customized packages that include corporate planning retreats, art workshops and Wyoming wilderness camps.
Horse Rides. To many of our guests, this is their favorite part of this western experience. We provide horse rides on the ranch with a fee (to help with shoeing/winter feeding/etc.)
This was truly what I was looking for in a place for our vacation. It was so much roomier than what I had anticipated. When our family first got there, we had to explore the house. Didn’t realize when we had booked it how large the place really was. Our son was so tickled about having the whole upper floor to himself. It was nice having a full sized refridgerator. Cokeville is certainly a get away from it all place. Quaint little town. We enjoyed the kayaks that were provided. My son had never done that before. It was cool to be able to walk through the pasture with the horses to get to the creek. It was nice meeting Charles and his father and daughter. Overheard my husband discussing the stay with my son, saying he wished they could have talked longer with Charles. My husband is a big history buff, and Charles knows so much about the area. His heritage is neat. We were on a whirlwind tour of the west (coming from Wisconsin) so we only got to stay 2 nights. I would have liked to stay longer, but we had too many places to go to and see. Really a great place for a family. There was only 3 of us and plenty of room for a lot more
Charles is a great host. He did everything possible to make sure we were comfortable and had things to do. We were able to fish the rivers, go kayaking, drive up Pine Canyon for a picnic, roast marshmallows around the fire pit, show the kids the pigs and ride the horses. The breeze kept the cabin cool, and the scenery was amazing. Great place to get away from it all.
Charles was incredibly kind and generous with his time and effort. He even cut wood for a fire for us! He was very easy to get in touch with and accommodating with our group (made sure we had enough beds in the right places, etc.). The cabin was clean and spacious for our group of 6 adults. We really enjoyed stargazing, horseback riding, and kayaking at the ranch. Overall, it was a great experience. We couldn’t have made a better choice for our stay in Wyoming.
My best airbnb experience so far! Charles was an amazing host, very easy to communicate with and did everything for us so we could have a great time. His ranch is lovely, very comfortable and has everything you will need. It’s situated in the nature, the views are beautiful, and the wildlife never far. We had an amazing time kayaking on the river. As we had to leave early in the morning but still wanted to experience horseback riding, Charles came a 7:30 with the horses and took us on an awesome horse ride across the river and up the surrounding hills. I would highly recommend to stop at his place if you travel in the area. Thanks Charles!
Great getaway! Charles was a great host and the rustic cabin was the perfect spot to get away from city life. His family was very accommodating. We kayaked on the river and went to the local mountain for a hike. Would definitely recommend.
We had a great time at the Wyoming Guest Ranch. Charles is a great guy and made us all feel very welcome. Some of our family had a chance to go horse back riding and loved every minute of it. We also had plenty of time for fishing. The accommodations were perfect. Very relaxing and we will be back for sure.
